Northwest Colorado Health expands Home Health services to serve private pay patients

Northwest Colorado Health has been serving the Yampa Valley with Home Health for 60 years! We are excited to now be expanding our services to include private pay Home Health care for individuals who want help with personal care in their home or have graduated from insurance covered Home Health and would like to continue services. This is a new private pay service available in Moffat and Routt counties and does not require a doctor’s referral.

“Often times we see older adults who want to remain in their homes but need a little extra help with getting their groceries, showering, taking their medications or doing their exercises, and that is where we come in to fill that need,” said Sally Habermehl, Director of Home Services for Northwest Colorado Health. “Our services are tailored around each person’s particular needs and an extra bonus is identifying problems early and avoiding hospitalizations.”

The same high-quality services that we offer through traditional Home Health are now available to community members who need additional support at home. This includes:

  • Nursing services such as wound care, ostomy care, IV therapy, catheter care, medication management and monitoring vitals/general health
  • Physical Therapy services such as home safety evaluation, strengthening, transfer training, walking program, and fall prevention
  • Medical Social Worker services include coordinating resources to address patients’ physiological, safety and social needs
  • Support for daily living and non-medical needs such as bathing and shaving, light housekeeping, meal preparation, grocery shopping and running errands and transportation to appointments

“We have been excited to see our Home Services team grow this past year, and this has opened up the opportunity to expand into private pay home services,” said Habermehl. “This service is important to fill the need in our community as our aging population grows. Private pay is for people who do not quality for traditional Home Health services due to not being homebound, not being covered by insurance or only needing unskilled services. The fee for this service would be the responsibility of the client.”

This new service is also a benefit for family members and caregivers, especially if you need to go out of town or would just like some extra support in caring for a loved one.
