Volunteer Spotlight: Heidi Petersen

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN VOLUNTEERING WITH NORTHWEST COLORADO HEALTH?
Heidi joined Northwest Colorado Health in winter/spring by taking the Hospice training and continuing on as a Hospice volunteer. Heidi’s personal experiences led her to volunteering with Hospice to provide support to patients/caregivers during this important time in their life.

WHAT IS YOUR VOLUNTEER ROLE?
Heidi is a Direct Service Hospice volunteer and also helps with dog therapy at The Haven and offers a healing touch of massage. Heidi loves to brighten someone’s day and make them smile. Heidi also enjoys bringing dogs in for a visit to help cheer people up. Heidi notes how she loves to hear people’s stories and learning about their life experiences.

HOW VOLUNTEERING SHARES A PASSION WITH WORK?
Heidi is a licensed massage therapist, yoga and meditation teacher, and a certified nutritionist.  Heidi shares her passion of massage to Hospice patients and caregivers. For work, Heidi is a massage therapist at Old Town Hot Springs and at The Grand Spa during the winter season.  Heidi works a few other part time jobs during the off season.

FAVORITE ACTIVITIES AND HOBBIES?
Heidi’s favorite activities include anything outside – hiking, running, biking, skiing, backpacking, paddle boarding, etc.  She also enjoys yoga and meditation, good food and wine, as well as time with family and friends.
